Temporary Site Manager – Primary School, Birmingham

Introduction

TIB Services is a trusted organisation specialising in connecting schools with reliable staff for caretaking and site roles. We are recruiting on behalf of a primary school based in the Birmingham area for an experienced Site Manager to join their team on a temporary basis.

About the Role

As Site Manager, you will lead the day-to-day management of the school’s site, ensuring all areas are safe, compliant, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. This includes managing the upkeep and security of the site, supervising the site team, supporting grounds maintenance, repairs, and ensuring key compliance tasks are met. You will be working alongside an experienced Grade 3 caretaker and must have previous experience working in a school environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of site safety, security, and keeping areas clear and tidy
  • Supervise and support site team members, including allocating and monitoring work
  • Manage repairs and maintenance of the school site, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Monitor the work of external contractors and liaise with the School Business Manager
  • Ensure all compliance checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, equipment, etc.) are completed on schedule
  • Support with opening and securing the building daily and responding to site security alerts as needed
  • Organise grounds maintenance and porterage duties, including litter collection and keeping outdoor areas clear
  • Undertake minor repairs and DIY tasks within capability
  • Manage supplies (toiletries, bulbs, soap, etc.) and maintain accurate logs of health and safety issues
  • Ensure all work is completed with due regard to safeguarding and in line with the ethos of the school
  • Promote and uphold high standards of professionalism and personal integrity

What we're looking for

  • Reliable, professional, and proactive approach to work
  • Strong DIY, repairs, and general maintenance skills
  • Experience working in a school environment and awareness of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Good understanding of compliance and health & safety requirements in a school setting
  • Ability to communicate well with staff, contractors, and the wider school community
  • Organised, motivated, and able to manage a varied workload
