TIB Services, a trusted organisation specialising in school site staffing, is acting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school based in the North Yorkshire area. We are seeking a proactive and reliable individual to help keep the school site safe, secure, and welcoming for all students, staff, and visitors.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position focused on the day-to-day maintenance and management of the school site. Duties include keeping areas clear and tidy, assisting with minor repairs, grounds maintenance, security, gritting and salting pathways in adverse weather, supporting lettings, and responding to out-of-hours requirements. Flexibility in working hours, including occasional shift work, is essential.
Your Responsibilities
- Act as a keyholder and be on the named persons list for out-of-hours access.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance as directed by your line manager.
- Regularly check lighting, heating, hot water, toilets, and drainage.
- Keep the premises tidy, ensure rubbish is collected and removed, and respond to accidents or incidents as needed.
- Maintain school grounds, including litter removal, gritting and salting, and snow clearance when needed.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and intruder alarms; supervise contractors and manage site security.
- Oversee safe storage of equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Test fire equipment and follow health and safety regulations, including evacuation procedures.
- Arrange furniture and prepare rooms for exams, meetings, and activities, clearing away afterwards.
- Provide first aid support when required (training provided).
- Support school lettings and site opening/closing outside normal hours as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable, professional, and proactive approach to work.
- Strong practical DIY and general maintenance skills.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in challenging conditions.
- Understanding of the importance of safeguarding, compliance, and health & safety within a school environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities, including occasional out-of-hours work.
