Caretaker – Temporary Position in Oxfordshire

Join a secondary school based in the Oxfordshire area as a caretaker, playing a vital part in keeping the school site safe, secure, and welcoming for students and staff. This role involves a mix of independent and team work, with duties such as opening and locking the premises, carrying out minor repairs, health & safety checks, general site upkeep, and grounds maintenance. Working hours are 08:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday.

Your Responsibilities

Opening and locking the school site
Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance
Health & safety checks across the premises
Maintaining site security at all times
Porterage and manual handling tasks
Grounds and external area maintenance
Keeping areas clear and tidy, supporting basic cleaning and site upkeep
Reporting defects and maintenance issues promptly
Working both independently and as part of a team

Practical DIY skills and confidence with basic repairs
Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and compliance in a school setting
Awareness of health & safety standards
