Caretaker – Birmingham

We’re looking for a reliable and proactive caretaker to support three school sites in the Birmingham area. All sites are within walking distance of each other, and a driver’s licence would be an advantage. You’ll be responsible for opening and closing the school buildings, setting alarm systems, supervising cleaning staff, liaising with contractors, groundskeeping, and helping to keep areas clear and tidy. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key part in the day-to-day life of local schools.

Salary: £13.45 per hour (£15.07 per hour including rolled up holiday pay), paid monthly.
Hours: Monday to Friday, shift pattern: 5:45am–1:45pm & 10:30am–6:30pm.

Your Responsibilities

Supervising cleaning staff and supporting a safe, tidy environment
Opening and securing school buildings, including setting alarm systems
Carrying out general caretaking duties across three nearby sites
Liaising with contractors and supporting site safety
Groundskeeping and basic DIY tasks

What we’re looking for

Reliable, professional, and proactive approach
Good DIY and practical skills
Experience supporting site maintenance or similar roles
Understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and health & safety in school environments
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
